Mahatma Gandhi started an Individual Satyagraha on October1940. The Indian National Congress had demanded an Indian Government responsible to the Central Legislative Assembly and independence for India at the end of the War in return for India's participation in WW-II. The demands had not met with a response, prompting Mahatma Gandhi to protest in this way. I'd like to know where he began this.

I know very, very little about ANY history i.e WW1, WW2 etc. I am Scottish, and know basically nothing about William Wallace! Basically at 24 I think its about time I took a step and actually read about the past. My problem though is I am interested in all areas and really dont know where to start! Can anyone suggest what period in time I should begin at or what books I should read?

I'm interested in getting involved in doing living history and possibly some reenacting. I am very passionate about sharing my knowledge about the sacrafices and heroics of the American boys who went off to war. Do I have to belong to an association? Where can I find information on doing living history presentations, as well as locate reenactment groups in my area? Thanks everyone.
