I dont think a hanging was necessary. He killed people of a rival "group" and that is how the world works. The US had no business with him, because he did nothing to us. Bush invaded a sovereign nation and arrested its leader, he should be put on trial for war crime.

Saddam did what anyone would do. I am not saying he is a good guy, cause he is not, but that is how the world works and well, yeah, i guess he was martyr.

It wasn't the Americans' decision to lynch him, nor did they advocate it. The people of Iraq tried him and found him guilty and thus he performed the short drop, sudden stop routine that sadly found it's way onto the internet (really now, with all the crap going on in that country, who in the hell doesn't search attendees on a function like that?).

As far as him being a martyr, it depends entirely on your point of view. If you're like me, he should never have hanged, or been taken out of power in the manner he was. Even though he was a mass murderer, he was basically not guilty of many of the charges that Bush used as a pretext for going to war.

I personally think that Saddam Hussein was a murderer but i think his followers would think of him as a martyr. Also the soldiers that found him in the first place should of thrown a hand grenade in that hole and closed the lid. Would of saved of alot of time and expense.

He is both. He is a martyr to his supporters and a murderer to the rest of the world. But that goes with any leader who is put to death. Even Hitler and Stalin two of the most notorious mass murderers in history still have those that idealize them. Absolute power absolutely corrupts.

Because he killed people who would surely have killed him.
He was certainly a product of the times. Our CIA empowered this man. It was probably very easy for him to develop a God complex because he had our support and he had oil. This was no Hitler but he was no hero either. I'm sure if you are a Kurd then you will probably hate him but if your son was a soldier back then and was killed just because he were an Iraqi uniform then you probably at least respect him.

The world is never black and white...Look deeper.

Did I mention they tried to assasinate him?

Given the present months activities and the "inner" Iraqi body of concepts/conflict among they selves, I say; that earlier you position any execution date; Saddam must be enable "loose" upon those cowards whom are killing each and each others females, the old, the innocuous, and their little ones. people like those in trouble-free words comprehend one element; and that is Saddam. All this romanticism about given them their "freedom" on the fee of the lives of our youthful men and females in the service and ; !!!which "freedom" they have used to "kill and ambush" US and coalition forces should be achieved away with. Edit: I edited the 0.33 line from the bottom, so each and each of the bleeding hearts right here delivers me some more suitable, or ; each and each of the "thumbs down" they'd like. truth all hurts ; would not it?

I agree completely with Josh, the US had no business interfering. He WAS a dictator and tyrant, however, he wasn't executed for being that nor was he tried because of his crimes. It was a political trial, one that disposed of a man who wasn't of any use for the US anymore. I mean, they funded him a few years ago, gave him weapons, because it was in their interest to have an ally in the region.
Besides, capital punishment is inhumane, no one has the right to play God and decide who gets to live and who doesn't.

what was supposed to be justice turned into
"dirty deeds done dirt cheap"
The negatives far out weigh whatever positives they had hoped to accomplish. I wish he hadn't even been born, but the execution was done in such a strange almost sneaky fashion, that the onus falls on America not the Iraqi courts.
