I'm interested in getting involved in doing living history and possibly some reenacting. I am very passionate about sharing my knowledge about the sacrafices and heroics of the American boys who went off to war. Do I have to belong to an association? Where can I find information on doing living history presentations, as well as locate reenactment groups in my area? Thanks everyone.

The fact that you're in Erie is what attracted me to this question. I've lived in Las Vegas for the last 7 years but Erie has always been my home. I guess the most important thing for you to do is ask yourself how serious you are about history re-enactment and specifically what history you want to recreate. I'm not aware of any such projects going on in Erie so you may be starting from scratch, an afternoon spent on the phone calling Times News, TV stations etc, can let you know if there are any re-enactment groups. If you want to start a re-enactment project, you need to start networking, Veterans organizations, theater groups, Erie Historical Society, the people who organize the arts festival, "we love Erie days" etc., everyone you can think of. I think you'll find that discussing your ideas with different people can really help a plan take shape. I hope this helps, let me know if you can make anything happen. Good Luck.

I don't know the exact answer to your question, but a good place to
start is to contact the World War 2 veterans in Erie, and they would
be more than happy to help you out with your goal.
http://www.erieveterans.com/ is where their website is located.

Ask the History Society at the library. If its not there they'll put you onto the museum or some such place.
