I would like to learn how to dance properly. Are there any relatively low priced places in the chicago area or surrounding suburbs where I can go? Thanks.

I'm looking for dance studios near Rowland Heights that offer lessons on salsa or ballroom dancing. Can anyone recommend one?

Honestly. I've been doing this sport for about 5 years now, mostly as a social activity but I also take lessons and practice a LOT. I find that most new dancers are quickly attracted to studios where they spend a bunch of money and burn out. Some with a larger bankroll will go to competitions. These things are like a "kangaroo court" for dance studio businesses. The women (or men) will typically practice choreographed routines for hours on end with their INSTRUCTOR then go show what they've perfected. This does NOT make a good dancer! Perhaps a good showman or woman, NOT a good or skilled dancer. Ballroom, latin, and most all social dances are based in lead and follow and it's a proven fact you can't learn that unless you dance continously with dancers of all levels for years on end and NOT as an instructor! Few if any studios direct students to social dancing which is the ONLY way to be a good dancer of this sort. I understand they did direct students better years ago.

I've been a social ballroom, latin, swing, and hustle dancer for years now. I've taken many private, group lessons etc. and have even done a few shows. Lately, I've become more interested in the West Coast swing, but haven't found a good venue for it. I have taken lessons in it at general dance studios without trouble

It seems people very involved with this dance are very "different" than with the other common social dances. In my city, it's dominated by just a few instructors and the nights and lessons are almost like a gang. The people are rude and very antisocial. They seem to be very arrogant about their dancing, yet most are visibly lousy at dancing in general. They have ridiculous requirements on even new students coming in on the scene and I'm finding new dancers unlucky enough to attend these WC nights are becoming quicking discouraged with dancing in general. I try to tell them it's not really like that elswere. What gives? Is this just in my city/state? I'm in jax, fl. TIA

Alright, so we have the sprinkler, the lawnmower, grocery shopping (leads to putting away the groceries), the fisherman...what else can you add? I LOVE corny dances and that is basically all I do when I dance at the club.

THANK YOU IN ADVANCE!
