How do I go about finding a sponsor for a dance group?

Im the leader of my gospel mime group.We are in need of funds, in general. How do we go about, or where do we look to find sponsors for such.

You can start with local businesses. Find one in the community that the church is in and approach them. When you speak with the owner of this business make sure that you tell them that they WILL GET advertisement for their sponsorship. As an example after the church service the pastor will announce to the congregation that THANKS to Joe's Gas and Oil Service station the gospel mime now has nice garments or whatever the sponsorship pays for. And get a nice story with the local paper making mention of the business. This does sell and works for the most part. Good Luck.

Your sponsor (s) get a tax write off to sponsor you. They are sponsoring you to advertise their name thru your dance group. You advertise their logo and name for exposure. So for each audience you draw to your dance show, the sponsor(s) are exposed to the audience.
Create a product that can have many sponsors on it. A calendar with 12 different pics of your dance performances and 12 different sponsors. Or have different sponsor package in $ increments. 4 types of Sponsors: Bronze is $100, Silver is $500, Gold is $1,000 and Platinum is $5,000.
You have become the agent of your dance troup. Have no fear. If you get 16 no thank you then get 2 sponsors at $100 then 12 no thank you and a gold sponsor pitch in. The sponsors are also paying for the calendar. First find out how much the calendar will cost to print, then figure out how much money does the dance troup need to survive simply. Have an article written about your dance group in every town you perform. Call in journalists to attend your performances. You are after exposure and so are the sponsors. Marketing is what you are doing and Advertising is what the sponsors are doing.
You said gospel so you belong to a church. Have the church members and businesses in your community donate to you gift certificates, free meals from local restaurants, a watch from the jewerly store, a fur coat from Aunt Jenny and have an auction night gala. First you perform one dance, then auction off all the goodies, during the break you perform another dance just before you auction for the last part of the evening. You could have 6 restaurants from your city sponsor the dinner, great advertising for them too.
You could have T Shirts made....You could do car washes ....

The first year they did an auction they got $12,000, the second year they did an auction they got $38,000 and this year they reached $72,000. The auctioneer was blowned away.
The private school was determined to get funds to help educate the kids.
