I would like to learn how to dance properly. Are there any relatively low priced places in the chicago area or surrounding suburbs where I can go? Thanks.

What kind of dance? For ballroom - go to http://www.ballroomdancers.com and find a studio near you. I suggest that you shop around different studios and find what you like. Don't buy any packages right away - since you have no experience, you have no way of telling if it is a good deal. I found the packages to be a bad idea (at least in my town) - once they have your money, they don't need to give their 100%, they dilute your lessons. You are returning anyway because you already paid. On the other hand, package deals provide some guidance and give you some structure - how often to take lessons, what lessons to take and so on. You can either do this, or you can do your own scheduling, picking and choosing. Talk to other dancers after classes, they are good resource. In any case, you need to dance at least 3 times a week as a beginner in order to have progress. Anything less than that - you tend to forget pretty much everything from lesson to lesson and it becomes frustrating. Find yourself some group classes, preferably "series" class that are accompanied by a social dance at the end and go for it. No other way to learn than trying. Define your dancing goals and go from there. You say you want to dance properly - what does it mean for you? An easier and more relevant question might be - what do you want to do with your dancing? What do you want to be able to dance 1 month from now? 3 months from now? 6 months from now?

There used two be a loose e-newsletter (I believe u can nonetheless get it downtown/Hyde Pk/Evergreen Pk within the loose newspaper containers) known as Discovery Center which presents all forms of categories. It's like a mini journal that presents many categories (cooking, artwork, writing, and many others.) They present hip hop, salsa, ballroom, and many others. From what I bear in mind, plenty of the categories are moderately priced. You can most commonly discover DC within the Yellow Pages if u do not c a million downtown. Also, the Yellow Pages is a well supply two get different offerings for hip hop dance lesson places/charges. Shop round! Contact the City Colleges of Chicago & see in the event that they present anything at the weekends (u shouldn't have two be enrolled) that is moderately priced. Hope this is helping! Have amusing & revel in the ones classes! :-)

You tend to get what you pay for. I'd suggest you go to one of the franchise studios (Fred Astaire or Arthur Murray) for an introductory package, which is generally reasonably priced, and then re-evaluate. You'll have started with little investment and you'll be in a better position to judge what you're shopping for. If you stay with them, it won't be cheap, but the value may be worth it to you, and if you go elsewhere, you'll have a point for further comparison.
