In addition to what you said, you will become more flexible, your range of motion will increase and you will learn to walk and move more gracefully. Once it's your second nature, everything you do will look more beautiful - every turn of your head, every hand gesture. You won't even notice it, other people will. Your coordination will improve too. If you find yourslef really into ballet, you'll start paying even more attention to your diet wich is always a good habit.

Since you are an adult it's okay to join whenever you want to. But if you are think of becoming a professional dancer then it's already too late. Because you have to start from a early age from 7-10 years old for your body to train. Your body will gain muscles and will lengthen, ballet helps you have really good posture but since your bones are permenent you will have to try hard to keep this posture stay in place. But I reccoment you doing ballet more than once a week if you want these things to happen easier and faster. The other benefits are confidence, and stretching your muscles.

You WILL become somewhat more toned, slightly stronger and your posture will radically improve. Don't expect too much with just one class/week though. Two classes/week would be better, but I am sure you have time constraints etc. BTW...Good for you! Ballet is a great way to develop fitness, poise, grace and a better frame of mind. All the things that Ms. Snowflake said... It helped me with depression.

My historic past is classical Indian dance, yet presently I take adult ballet training as a dance significant. My professor does not water something down. don't be afraid to describe ideal technique, alignment, posture, educate, etc. Adults taking Ballet are literally not doing it because their dad and mom favor them to. they are finding out to purchase it and favor the real journey. Use captivating classical song, and turn it up once in awhile. surely spend countless time at barre, and a lot less time on the floor contained in the starting up. In my first semester we did not do any petit alegro, yet contained in the 2d semester we did a petit and grand alegro. We went over tendu, degage, etc. each and each and every of the ballet words to boot as some idea right here and there (thats substantial too). She less than pressure looking your centre each and each and every of the time. some those with different dance exp. may study right now, yet take a at the same time as to describe and ultimate each and everything. educate the right concepts to stretch, warmth up, and how they could practice at homestead. also provide to inform them what song you take advantage of. My professor might want to throw in some own journey memories which will stay with me continuously. don't be afraid to be strict! My prof. did not allow us to participate in college if we were late and neglected the nice and comfortable temperature-up. rigidity punctuality because warmth up is so substantial! solid success :)

Yes, my sisters posture improved dramatically, plus she was more limber and able to better particpate in other types of sports due to her increased mobility.
