im 19, i took ballet then quit. my feet are obviously developed, my pointe shoes come tomorrow. do you think i can teach myself?

Can anyone give me some compare/contrast between NYCB and ABT? I know that abt mostly does story ballets, and nycb, founded by balanchine, mostly does his work and other modern ballets, but are there any other big differences? Thanks!!

Ok, I'm looking for suggestions on where to hold a high school prom. I go to Andress, and am looking for a place that holds anywhere from 800-1000 people. But on the other hand, I need a place that is affordable, or at least the deposit. Please Help! I'm running out of options fast...and if anyone would like to tell me how much a deposit on the dance hall/ballroom at the Camino Real place is, that'd be great.

Keep in mind that we want to make this a memorable time for juniors and seniors when it comes time...So any prom ideas are welcome too! Ok..thanks!

I'm looking to enhance my dancing ability- i have very poor flexibility and i'm terrible at memorizing a dance. does anyone have any suggestions?

(i would also like to know some great ballet excersises- particulary on pointe)

ps: i only have like 20 minutes a day to do some ballet excersises.

Well, im gonna be a senior in a couple of years...it will be here before i know it! At my dance studio, in our spring recitals, the seniors get solos to show what they have learned throughout the years and as a goodbye kind of thing from the studio. Well i have begun to look for songs and havent had any luck so i was wondering if you would help?? I would like them to be kind of lyrical like--whcih is a slow song with a kind of strong beat behind it. And i would like them to be about leaving and opening a new door and moving on with life but still having memories of the places being left. That kind of thing, so if anyone has any ideas that would be wonderful!! Thanks soooo much!!!!

My son has done ballet now for 3 yrs and totally loves it but he hates the fact he is the only boy in his school that does ballet. Why havent we after all these years learnt that its ok for a boy to dance.
Its a real shame you should see how happy it makes him everyweek to go to his lesson.

i'm the only girl on my dad's side (among first cousins). i mostly go out with my bro and my guy cousin who aren't such great dancers. everytime i have a friend (that's a girl) come over for a vacation, i dance with her. it's more fun dancing with someone who KNOWS HOW to dance. so it practically sucks when you have parents who say that i have no confidence because i can only dance if a friend is around. that's the thing. it sucks. b/c i really want the confidence to dance alone. how do i do that without being humiliated?
