I have written a book but have no idea as to where to begin regarding having it published. Obviously I do not want to spend a fortune on trying to get it published. Anybody out there have any advice. I really would appreciate it.

I'm keen to find the orignal source of the quote, and the exact original phrasing. There are a few variations out there, gemlike/gem-like, flame/fire are varied a lot.
Possibly it was translated from latin??
If that was the case I'd be keen to find the latin translation as well.
Thanks.

James Hadley Chase is the best. I remember once I was reading The Girl who Loved Gordon by Stephen King and there was this elderly Dutch lady reading Jamica Inn of Daphne du Maurier. She'd never heard of Stephen King.

I've been asked to create a specific craft project for a small magazine published in NY. They have told me exactly what they want and I am to provide the item for a photo shoot along with written instructions. I have an idea of what to charge for the project but would like to know what freelance writers are charging for magazine work on a per word basis.

....the condition of being "crippled?" What actually is the point of this part of the tale, if any? Do you think it an essential part of the account or simply a superfluous appendage tagged on the ending like the donkey's tail?

I've read "The Da Vinci Code", and I think it's great, but after reading "Digital Fortress" I started to think (even if DF is more more more interesting than TDVC) that Dan Brown's writings are umm.. quite similar.
What do you all think?
What do you think I should read (something interesting)?
Please give me some recommendations..

I am a writer who is new to freelance writing and I am finding it very difficult to find work. People don't want to take a chance on a beginning writer. How do I get started? Does anyone have any tips or techniques or just helpful info for a new writer on getting work and keeping a steady flow of work coming in?
