I had a near death experience when I was 9, so if it seems hard to believe, it's just how I remembered it.

When I was still living in the Philippines, a disastrous storm occurred. I was helping my Uncle Francisco wash dishes;the power was out, so there were only candles and yet it was dark. One dish fell and broke, so we picked up the pieces and my uncle told me to throw it outside so my aunt wouldn't see it (it was her fine china). I went to throw it out, then suddenly, lighting stroke; it was so near and loud, I was terrified. I quickly went back inside, right in front of me was no longer a kitchen, it was a wall crashed down, burying my uncle. He was quickly rushed to the hospital, but was DOA. I kept thinkng that if I didnt leave the kitchen, that also could have been me. 15-20 people died in where I lived. From what I remembered, houses were destroyed from almost the same reason as well.

Well, there is a guy. We'll call him John for this story. John is asked to house-sit for a friend of his, who is going away for about three weeks. He accepts, because he is allowed to live in the house for free (Instead of the apartment he lives in at the time). All he has to do is pay utilities.
But every night he hears footsteps in the hall. Six footsteps and then a scratching sound on the bedroom door. For two weeks this continues, and John begins to become truly frightened. He even begins to search the house every night, pistol in hand, looking for an intruder. One night he wakes just in time to hear the footsteps begin. As the scratching on the door starts, John stands, grabs his flashlight and pistol, and goes to the door. He yanks it open to reveal... nothing.
John quickly grabs his belongings and leaves the house in the middle of the night. He calls his friend on a payphone, saying he will never set foot in the house again.

This is a true story, although I have changed the name.
