James Hadley Chase is the best. I remember once I was reading The Girl who Loved Gordon by Stephen King and there was this elderly Dutch lady reading Jamica Inn of Daphne du Maurier. She'd never heard of Stephen King.

I would probably take the Stephanie Plum Series by Janet Evanovich. I love her stuff. It's so funny, my other favorite is The Women's Murder Club by James Patterson. Plus I'd have to take my lap top so I could access my all time favorite website... paperbackswap.com. It's the best resource for trading used books for free.

Stephen King, Anne Rice, Rosalind Laker, Joseph Wambaugh -- any would be good. Depends on the length of the journey which book. There are tons more to choose from. Tolkien would be another good one.

I would take a couple books, one light and fun, something like Douglas Adams or Terry Pratchett and another that was a classic, like Dickons or something. That way I have something for most moods. Maybe a Stephan King, also, so I wouldn't fall asleep.

A Man in Full by Tom Wolfe.
(anything) in Death by J.D. Robb.
Something by Laurell K. Hamilton.
I would probably take some poetry as well.

I would take a book by David Eddings. I recomend him if you're into fantasy. He tells a great story and I can really connect to his characters. Robin Hobb is a great fantasy author too. Her books are really intense.
