According to the book "The Human Story",an american ship sailed into edo, threatening to deliver "with force" the trade message if the japanese didn't accept it peacefully. The ship then said the americans would return in a year with a larger force for an answer. Was America really planning on attacking if the japanese didn't agree to trade?

I can't take this crap anymore. Small children are frightened of me and when I go to Sizzler, they make me eat in the broom closet. I've also been drinking alot lately since the ol'shop shut down back in '92.

How can I once again be part of a functioning society?

Is it just me? I had this thing for Snape even before the first movie came out, and I definitely loved Alan Rickman. . .! JKR *seemingly* tries to make the reader hate him, everything from his physical appearance to dirty underwear to killing Dumbledore, but to no avail! I still love Snape! One of my friends confessed to me that she loves him too, so I know I am not completely alone in this.

what do you think about yourself? Does anyone here ever think that they are one tiny speck on this planet, yet it's not the truth? Where we are, where we start. Do you think that this isn't real? We may go into space, but why bother? This is it, this is all there is and it's so damn boring. Because we can only experience this as human and humans suck.

I don't know how to start my chapter [writer's block] but I need an idea of a sentence of paragraph how to start my chapter off with. So, this chapter is about a sailor[not the main character] who comes to an officer, crying out that he found a dead body on the shore. The Officer[kind of the main character] follows the man to find a young lady, and when he kind of moves her seaweed like hair from her face, she moves...she's alive[the heroine]. So, how should I start this chapter off with??I was thinking...about starting with the sailing crying out that he saw a dead body...

I have watched children at the playground and they never seem to have troubles with skin color, at what stage in our lives does the color of a persons skin become something we are aware of and when does it make a difference? For me I grew up in a very ethnic rich environment, and race was not a real big factor.
