The increasingly influential Christian lobby has blocked legislation for stem cell research, euthenasia, and other developments which surveys show are supported by the majority of Australians. The Christian lobby is a marginal minority, but represents votes increasingly important in marginal seats, where comparatively few votes can swing results. It's a creeping growth of influence under the present Federal Government which includes fundamentalists, who have now got millions of dollars of Federal funds allocated for Chaplains in secular State schools, and also devoted Govt education funding to extremely rich, private, Church schools. Protests are ignored, and muted. Is this the boiling frog syndrome? Islamic countries are experiencing similar difficulties with fundamentalists - who typically resort to terror when they don't get what they want such as Sharia Law. Western societies fought hard for secular States. Are we losing them?

When I was about 9 or 10 years old, my dad said when I was 18, killer bees would invade my state. I'm 16 now, and I've been wondering....is he lying or what? Cause I haven't heard of this on the news or anything. I personally think he's lying. Haha!

Little April was not the best student in Sunday school. Usually she slept through the class.
One day the teacher called on her while she was napping, "Tell me, April, who created the universe?" When April didn't stir, little Johnny, a boy seated in the chair behind her, took a pin and jabbed her in the rear. "GOD ALMIGHTY!" shouted April and the teacher said, "Very good" and April fell back asleep.
A while later the teacher asked April, "Who is our Lord and Saviour," But, April didn't even stir from her slumber. Once again, Johnny came to the rescue and stuck her again. 'JESUS CHRIST!" shouted April and the teacher said, "very good," and April fell back to sleep.
Then the teacher asked April a third question. "What did Eve say to Adam after she had her twenty-third child?" And again, Johnny jabbed her with the pin. This time April jumped up and shouted, "IF YOU STICK THAT ****!NG THING IN ME ONE MORE TIME, I'LL BREAK IT IN HALF AND STICK IT UP YOUR @RSE!"
The teacher fainted :)

I have a King Sized Iron bed, which consists of two metal L-shaped rails running down the sides, each roughly 1 inch wide, whcih came with several wooden slats to rest between them.

The mattress I bought was a pocket-sprung mattress (to avoid back problems from an old, spring one). This means direct pressure on the mattress passes through to the slat(s) directly below (rather than spreading out my weight across the slats). So if myself and my pertner lean too hevily on the same slat(s) they bend too much and "pop" through the frame. This happens far too easily and too often, just turning onto my side must be done with care !

This has been getting worse over time. Could this be because I need to buy new slats ? Or can I get more solid slats ? I have been to a lumber merchant to ask about "a more sturdy, denser" type of wood, but they looked at me as if I was mad ! Bascially I need wood slat that can support two people across the 6 foot width of my bed.

Please help me get more sleep !

This is the last chance of my team Galatasaray to continue CL. If we wouldnt win, our target will be the 3rd of the group C and continue to the UEFA Cup. This might be better becoz still we are not ready for CL and in 2000 we got the UEFA Cup by this way.

The love poem.

Arms that open wide,
Eyes that say "I tried",
Lips that stole sweet kisses in the snow,
Flowers in the morgue,
Lights out on the porch,
Alone with but a memory,
My hardened body,
The whipped cream in the fridge,
The love that knows no reason,
The love that has no switch,
You can't turn it on and off,
The waxing of the moon,
The eyes that smile when tears subside and comfort in the gloom.
