Hi there,
I sympathise with you, i had the flu & a chest infection two weeks ago & i am now 11 weeks also, i asked on here if i could take Lemsip etc for the flu symptoms as i felt like i was about to curl over & die. Unfortunatley the ONLY thing safe to take is Paracetomol, drink plenty of water & rest. I had to suffer with it for 2 weeks & am just getting over it. It's not nice but grin & bear it for the sake of your unborn child!!
Hope you feel better soon.

If you do have a chest infection, your doctor can prescribe antibiotics that are safe to take. Other than that, paracetamol based flu remedies are ok. Plenty of rest is also very important. You are probably feeling worse because you are so tired. Your body is undergoing a huge change and you need all the rest you can get. I bet 2/3 full days in bed will work wonders!!
Good luck

Canada calling!.... don't take any medicines without your Dr's approval, although I'm sure you knew that.
For the 'flu symptoms - the following things helped me when I had flu during pregnancy: Ginger-ale (for nauseau) - dry saltine crackers or digestive biscuits.
For the chest congestion my doctor had me make a horrid sounding concoction of mashed garlic, and freshly grated/shredded ginger root. I had to simmer it then drink like a tea. The garlic lingers, but it did work for the chest congestion. (he insisted it be fresh garlic and ginger from the produce market, and not powdered versions from the spice aisle)
If you have a sore throat too: a couple of Tbsp of honey, same of lemon and boiled water (another tea-like drink)
I believe you should be able to get all these ingredients on your side of the "pond" .... if you have access to licorice tea - that also helps with stomach upsets and nausea, plus is quite soothing and naturally sweet.
Good luck - hope you feel better soon.

I was in your shoes with my first pregnancy, but I also suffered from extreme sickness and dehydrated along with high temperature due to flu. I was put into hospital of two weeks on a drip and had antibiotics pumped into the drip. I sincerely think you should go to your GP as soon as possible. Good luck sweetheart.

Olbas oil is always good for clearing your nose as an alternative to taking pills etc. Lavender is also meant to be good for all sorts of things. Keep drinking lots of water and make a honey and lemon drink with hot water. Sorry, I can't think of anything else xx
