Going to the wrong places!!

2006-12-03 00:26:44 · 5 answers · asked by Anonymous

I'm simply moving to the UK by myself and I need to know which visa/permit to get. Once I get there I will be completely on my own and I will need to find a job and support myself. I need to know what type of visa/permit I need to apply for and if I need to apply for it now or after I move.

Also my friend mentioned something to me about a "living visa/permit" just to live there. Do I need that or does it even exist?

I have a profound love for british architecture and I will be beginning my masters of arch. right after I finish my BA. I am going to the UK for one year to study/travel. But my primary reason is to photograph the british countryside and the architecture.

What is the best way for an independent/solo traveller to see the countryside? I want to see the places where tourists don't usually know of and only the locals know of. Suggestions please!

Thankyou.

We want to go on holiday for the week commencing 25th August 2007 (two adults, two children, one small dog). We don't really want to pay more than £400.00 because that would mean less trips out for the children, etc. Does anybody know anywhere - caravan, chalet, cottage? Anything with four hard walls and a roof that will allow our dog to come with us. We all like the beach, but are prepared to drive to it if it's within ten minutes drive. Somebody must know somewhere - we've spent hours looking on the internet, but they're either too much money or won't allow dogs - somebody, somewhere must have a site that isn't too expensive that allows dogs or are we just living in cloud-cuckoo land?

I'm an American and I'm young but I'm not exactly a party girl, so it doesn't matter if the town/city you suggest has great night clubs. I'm more interested in learning about the culture and history.

Thanks for all the help!
