York is good, Yorvic Viking museum, the dungeons, the railway museum you could spen a day in there easily and it's free!, loads of stuff there.

Where abouts in Yorkshire? North Yorkshire alone is the largest county.
Bradford has an IMAX cinema, a ice rink, a film museum...
Richmond has a fine castle.
York has the Jorvic viking centre, some great medieval and Roman ruins, the York Dungeon, national railway museum...
Ripon has a cathedral, Lightwater Valley theme park, a prison museum...
Pickering has the stream train from Harry Potter, Flamingo Land theme park...
There's Leeds Royal Armouries, Cliff Castle, Castle Howard, Fountains Abbey, the Yorkshire Sculpture Park, the Harrogate Royal Baths, Eastby Abbey...
Unless you give me a smaller area or some kind of indication what the kids interests are I could list over 100 things.

Best teas in the country at Betty's in Harrogate
Fantastic scenery at Robin Hoods Bay
David Hockney museum at Saltaire near Bradford
Or for sport try the Sheffield dry ski slope and state of the art swimming pool at Ponds Forge in Sheffield
