I've always been fascinated with how people live in England. Here in America, everything seems more rough-and-tumble. England seems more civilized, but kinda strange. What's life like in England? I would like to know about life in London versus life in smaller towns. Thank you! :-)

I shall be there briefly in a few weeks. I hear its not terribly touristy. Any decent restaurants or pubs around there? Or should I head more central for something decent to eat?

I seem to remember reading a lot of horror stories last year, but when I look at the National rail and the London underground home-pages there's NO information at all!

Please only answer if you actually know something!
