Do you mean Chelmsford, the county town of Essex. The headquarters of Essex County Cricket Club? The town that owes much to Marconi, but is owned by Duke Street, that has a Cathedral but is not a City, has a road named after a hanged Witch ( Agnes Waterhouse). A town that pulled down beautiful buildings to build a precinct, that replaced an open air market with a multi-storey car park, and has just one remaining street that has not had the soul torn from it (Moulsham). A town without a centre, but is nothing more than a shopping centre! That has some wonderful people, but no sense of importance, that is possible the ugliest County Town in Britain. Lived there once (not from choice), now I prefer less crowded places with more character.

Don't bother with Moulsham St. There's not much there at all to be honest. Have you tried looking in Meadows? Not sure about mens shops but there could be some? And have another look round High Chelmer (the one next to Topshop)... sometimes there are shops that you just miss out when browsing... you never know, there could be something. But to be honest, Chelmsford isn't that great. Try getting a train up to London for a day to do one big shopping trip.
