The UK is unlike many other places.
There are thousands of places ti visit.
If you are interested in historical things, then many of the 1600 castles from over 1000 years ago are still standing.
Ancient cathedrals like York Minster, and Soutwell minster and many others, 900 years old.
There are even some Roman remains from 2000 years ago, like a fort on Hardnott Pass in the Lake district.
There's all the stuff related to the Robin Hood legend around Nottinghamshire.
There are many ancestral homes, or stately homes, still in perfect condition from 5 and 6 hundred years ago.

If you like nature, and beautiful scenery, then I can recommend the Lake District, or the Derbyshire Dales.

There are museums and art galleries everywhere.

To try to put it into context, withing a 25 mile radius of my home in Nottingham, there are over 100 places of interest.

So it really depends on what you are interested in, and waht your overall travel plans are.

A lot depends on how long you will be there and whether you prefer quiet, scenic stuff or lively cities. Some beautiful places I've been to for quiet and scenic are the west coast of Scotland and Scottish Islands. Also Northern Wales is very nice for scenic drives or hiking. In England the Lake District and Cornwall are very pretty--not exactly quiet most of the time though.
If you prefer lively places London is great and there's always something to do-museums, historic sites, clubs, restaurants, street markets and parks. Edinburgh is wonderful and so is Cardiff. Brighton is a lot of fun-nice sea-side town with a young, lively feeling to it. If you have enough time and money do a bit of both-some cities and some rural areas. Have a lovely holiday.

For sheer fun and some good architecture, sea air and fresh fish, why not visit Brighton, 60 minutes by train from Victoria Station. Very English and a lot of fun.
