Hi I need to go to Ireland with my car and four adults, after years of flying over, it seems the four hour sea cat from liverpool to Dublin has ceased! Can anyone confirm this? The only ferry service seems to be 8 hours, and even on the site Brian suggested, comes out at almost £600, is that a fair price? Maybe I have just been spoilt with cheap air fares for too long! If anyone can suggest a ferry service from Liverpool to Belfast or Dublin I would very much appreciate it! We tried the Hollyhead service about 7 years ago, and we thought the journey from Bristol to Hollyhead was a nightmare, so would rather depart from Liverpool! Look forward your suggestions!! Thanks xx

I am wondering if anyone has information on taking a ferry from Dingle to our next destination of Galway. Would we have to catch the ferry in Tralee? How long does the trip take and what is the fee if you don't have a car? My hope is that a ferry would take us by the Cliffs of Moher. Any info anyone could provide would be appreciated.

My g.g grandfather William lawrence had a suite of stores on upper Sackville st [grafton st] called 'Lawrence's Great Bazaar' from 1865.
It was destroyed in 1916 when the premises were looted and burnt down during the Easter Rising.

Does anyone know if this was the first Department type store in Dublin? or was it Clerys?

If it remains as it is , Britain too, will never be free. I know people will say that there are some people there that want it to remain under british rule, but it's about what's right isn't it?

It has been a few years since I have booked a ferry from Liverpool to Ireland! We used to book the seacat four hour ferry, at a reasonable cost! I can only find 8 hour crossings at mad prices, eg. £650, for one car with four adults for a week.
Does anyone know if this is the only Ferries available now? 8 hours and at those kind of prices.
Would appreciate any info, if you have it!
Thanks and best regards amanda

Only joking, I know he is playing for England so he can play test mtches abd play at the highest level, but I am a wannabe Irish supporter, they look like getting further than England!

And at this rate will be a test playing nation soon! lol
Imagine what they'd be doing with Joyce in the team....

And I have Irish heritage!

Myself, being a gambler and drinker, whose Grandparents emigrated to America in 1910 on the White Star Line from places named Cork and Mayo. I would like to visit and anything a good trip that could show me how my Grandparents lived while in Ireland, politicly and socially, etc during that period would be a plus. Donegal, Cork, Mayo , Belfast, Dublin are all possible visits. I know Dublin and Liverpool are across the sea from each other, but is that a good visit? London may also be a stop. and U-2 and the Beatles may also pay a part in my musical / family heritage visit. Suggestions???

Ive decided that i want to go ireland for two weeks in August. But Iam in a really tight budget. I have another friend comming with me for the ride and another friend still thinking about the trip. I want to spend a week in Dubland and i want to spend another week juss wondering around the countryside. This would involve a car. so my question is what would be the total cost for this trip. Would the trip be cheaper if i involve more then one friend to help out with finances?
