it was on a quiz i took but i never got the my results back...so i was just wondering

There is no official number that I know of. Needless to say there are thousands, the Irish Pub is a huge part of Irish culture but unfourtunatly everyone thinks we just head to a pub to get drunk, not the case.

If someone has an answer to this then I would be amazed. There are nearly 1000 pubs in the Greater Dublin area alone i believe. My home town population ~3,900 has about 18 pubs so if you take that as a section of the country as a whole there are roughly 18,000 places licenced to sell alcohol in the whole country i suspect; although that figure could be miles off.

Thats a silly question. One might as well ask how many fast-food restraunts are in the USA, or how many rednecks are in Arkansas....
