we would like to take my father in law to visit his ancestory town of kilkenny, and we will be flying from newcastle airport. which is the best airport in ireland to travel to, if we want to get to kilkenny(or as close as)? And can anyone recommend things to do when we get there? bear in mind my father in law will be 70, but still loves a night out and couple of drinks in nice quiet(ish) pubs. he would also like to look around the area where his parents and ancestors lived.

any help would be greatly appreciated,thankyou.x.

I was reading a short story set in Ireland for school. It was about the war between the Republicans and the Free Staters. I have to make a posterboard for this story (It's "The Sniper". You can read it on the web). Does anyone know if the Republicans were the Protestants and the Free Staters were the Catholics (since, both religions aren't getting along very well there)? I really need help on this! Thanks!

I'm planning to go on a trip to Ireland for about a week or two, but I don't know much about it. I'm going to go by myself so I'd like to go somewhere with more of a city atmosphere, and lots of shopping. Good pubs are a plus, too. Info about good hostels would be great as well.

We visited them several times over the years. The last time we were there, the factory had closed, apparently due to the founder's death. Now I see all this tat on ebay from Shannon Irish crystal, but it's MADE in Poland, Czech Republic or Slovenia. It's a shame that the Shannon Irish crystal name is being used for this crap, that factory only produced high quality items, pieces of art,if you will. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks.

Hi guys! I want to take my daughter to Ireland this coming February/March. (I know the weather won't be great - but we don't care! lol!) My daughter is 12 (and will be almost 13 by then) and I want to find the best prices on airfare and accomdations. I don't really want to be on an organized tour - because we are not all about structure - but we want to see lots of the "tourist" attractions - as well as being able to shop and just meet people. Any suggestions- are there family tours? Where are there family friendly places to stay? What should be NOT miss?! Thanks for all of your help! Blessings!
