I have always wanted to go to Ireland Im not sure which city ..Do they welcome people from the US, for that matter Californians?? Any culture clashes? I have always been drawn to that beautiful green Landscape........Any info will be gladly appreciated!

you'll always get a welcome in Ireland, but travel round don't limit yourself to one city.
Dublin is not Ireland, though it thinks it is, but anywhere outside of Dublin should be ok.
Galway is a great place a small city with the feel of a town.
if you get there in the summer you might catch the Galway arts festival, there's lots of arty and musickey stuff goin on there but be careful, the place is like the bermuda triangle; people have gone there for holidays for a few weeks and found themselves still there after a year!(discipline yourself)
The burren in county clare is absolutely fabulously beautiful so I hear and Co Kerry is beautiful, famously so.
There's the Guiness Jazz festival in Cork every year,
Donegal is a lovely part of the country too, lots of hills

Hi! I'm from California too and actually will be flying to Ireland for my 4th time again on Friday. I have never experienced any culture clashes while I was there. Everyone seemed really friendly. I really liked the small towns the best. The 2nd time I was in Ireland I was in a small town in the Southwest called Dingle. I stayed in a bed and breakfast. It was inexpensive and really fun. Unlike a hotel, you actually get to know the family that runs the b&b. They were super nice. Normally they would fix a breakfast (home cooked) in the morning, but my husband and I let them know that we had an early morning plane to catch and wouldn't be able to join them. I was not expecting it at all, but the owners packed us a lunch to take with us with fresh fruit and sandwiches.

Yes, Americans have been welcomed for a long time, especially when they were rich and the dollar strong ... and don't worry about being Californian, you're all Yanks to us. No offence intended, it's just the way it is.
Be prepared for a very different climate though - there's a very good reason for all that green.

do a tour, two days in dublin, head southwest to county cork ( dingle) county kerry ( killarney) travel north along the west coast, take in limerick, sligo,galway, to county donegal, after that it depends on how much time you have left of your vacation.
