I was reading a very nice book recently on the traditions and culture of Bharat. It said that for our houses we should keep a pair of Pratyahari at the front entrance of the house, one on either side of the door.

What would be suitable?
Lions? Elephants.... or something else?

i got a 6 month tourist visa last year, no problems, but this year i want to be in india for 9-12 months. does anyone know if an employment visa is easy to get (i'll be teaching in a monastery), or a longer tourist visa, and if so, how long will the embassy take to process the application? last year they took 4 days with the 6 month one. any help greatly appreciated, the embassy weren't very forthcoming.

Recently i saw a Bollywood film. i loved the dancing and the music. Everytime a couple was about to kiss, another song broke out! I have had it explained that there is no kissing, nudity or lovemaking in Indian films. My question is this, I know that our American movies are available in India, and I woder how they are percieved. I think in many American films there is often a lot of kissing and tother activities. Do they seem particularly base, rude or offensive to an Indian audience? Just curious! Thanks for your answer!
