i got a 6 month tourist visa last year, no problems, but this year i want to be in india for 9-12 months. does anyone know if an employment visa is easy to get (i'll be teaching in a monastery), or a longer tourist visa, and if so, how long will the embassy take to process the application? last year they took 4 days with the 6 month one. any help greatly appreciated, the embassy weren't very forthcoming.

Just register at the foreign registration office as soon as you get here and they will extend your visa. Or just simply go to Nepal and get another 6 month visa. If you are going to be at a monastery then ask them to assist you to get an extended visa.
