Looking at the pictures of the protests outside Sydney Town Hall there were people from all ages and walks of life. Yet while they were complaining about APEC and capitalism screwing the people of Asia there was nary an Asian face in the crowd. Just looked like skip-central to me.

What gets me is that as most Sydney Siders have left for a long weekend, as we appreciate this time off because we actually Work in the Australias Premier City. Most hippie low life protesters have flown or bused in from Melbourne & Brisbane. I hope the Police crack heads tomorrow ! Wer'e Proud of our City thanks you low life's !

I need to go for a drive tomorrow(Public Holiday) for a bit of sight seeing and maybe some lunch/picnic with my friends.

Starting from the Sydney City.
Blue mountains is cool but been there many times.

A couple of hour drive and would be great. Can you suggest a nice place?

I am thinking about being a foreign exchange student next year (I'm American) and I'm deciding between Ireland and Australia. Can you guys help me decide which is best? I'd love to hear from people who have lived in both places but everyone's thought are much appreciated!

Thanks in advance

Oh, by the way, also debating Italy, but I don't want to be stuck in a place where I don't speak Spanish and will have no idea what's going on. Unless a lot of Italians speak English...

(Ireland and Australia are top two, then Italy)

Thanks again!

I'm flying from London to Sydney before Christmas. I have a choice of flights, some arrive Sydney first thing in the morning around 6am, some arrive Sydney in the evening around 8pm. Flights leave London between 12noon and 10pm. According to the airline chosen and the time waiting for a connecting flight, overall travel time varies between 23 and 32 hours. All flights I'm considering only have one stop. So my question is, what are the best flight timings (departure and arrival) to minimise jetlag? Thanks

Can anyone recommend any activities and day tips in and around Sydney? I'm after advice and information on anything anyone deems to be interesting or fun from sky diving, rafting, and shark diving to zoo's, aquariums and theme parks to national parks, waterfalls and mountains. Anything that is worth seeing or doing. Anybody got local knowledge on anything that doesn't make the guide books or any backpackers stumbled upon something largely unknown? Anyone know of any lakes with waterfalls you can swim in? I'm going from 11/12/07 to 11/01/08 and what to pack in as many amazing experiences as possible. Cheers!

Can anyone reccomend any good companies that do snorkeling trips in Sydney? Are there any that do coral reef trips? I know the best place to do coral snorkelling is obviously the barrier reef but I wont be able to get there. I will be in Sydney from 11/12/07 to 11/01/08. Cheers!
