are there any smoking rooms/areas in sydney airport after you clear customs and are waiting for your flight,if so where?non smokers don't bother answering something that does not affect you.

Two years ago there was a smoking room in the duty free section of the international terminal. It was a little bit hidden but there had been a sign.
Following the link tonalc1 provided the smoking room might have been closed in the meantime - or they don't want to admit in public that they have one ;-)
Anyway, if it's still there (and I remember it correctly) you have to follow the small corridor between B8 and B9 and then turn right:

Brisbane International airport does have a smoking area once you have cleared customs (little cornered off area for us, bad smokers LOL) just to the left once gone through customs and those x-ray machines.
Sorry don't know about Sydney, only ever flown domestic though there.

There is no smoking anywhere in the terminal. There are designated smoking areas located outside of the building on the departures and arrival roadway.

Nothing inside the terminal John - zip, zero, nada.
Ask at the departure gate to confirm - but last time I was there, the only place was outside (arrival/departure entry point)
Same at every cpital city airport here.
