Can anyone recommend any activities and day tips in and around Sydney? I'm after advice and information on anything anyone deems to be interesting or fun from sky diving, rafting, and shark diving to zoo's, aquariums and theme parks to national parks, waterfalls and mountains. Anything that is worth seeing or doing. Anybody got local knowledge on anything that doesn't make the guide books or any backpackers stumbled upon something largely unknown? Anyone know of any lakes with waterfalls you can swim in? I'm going from 11/12/07 to 11/01/08 and what to pack in as many amazing experiences as possible. Cheers!

I'm from Sydney so hopefully I can help:

-Blue Mountains- around 1 1/2 hours by train from Sydney. A beautiful national park area. You can go on the scenic railway, skyway, caves with original Aboriginal Art, Wentworth Falls is beautiful, Norman Lindsey Gallery and a whole selection of great little towns.
-Luna Park along the north shore of Sydney Harbour is an amusement park, Targona Zoo, the Botanic Gardens, Art Gallery's, Museums, Fort Denison, Sydney Opera House, Darling Harbour, China Town and an area called The Rocks are all right in the centre of the city and very interesting.
-Harbour Bridge climb is also a great option. You can climb to the top of the bridge as long as you're ok with height.
-Take a ferry to Manly beach, it's out of the Harbour so a nice trip plus theres some great shopping.
-Also the new years eve fireworks in the city are amazing. Mrs. Maquarie's chair and The Rocks are the best places to view these from. Also Carols in the Domain is abit of fun if you're into that sort of thing, it's usually the Saturday night before christmas.

Have a great trip!

Relax on sun-drenched beaches, eat at award-winning restaurants and a lot more is what you should get on your visit to Sydney. Find more with hotelbye . One of many world's great symbols and a absolutely must see in Sydney is the Sydney Opera House, a spot is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and the star attraction on the glittering harbour. This elegant building, formed like covers or billowing sails, perches on a finger of land surrounded by water. Sydney is really a distinctive place to pay your vacation therefore, don't lose the chance to go to a good city.
