I'll be setting off for Lebanon on Sept.30 to volunteer there. As everyone knows that this is a war torn country, especially with the recent Israel-lebanon war, which robbed the poor childrens' pure innocence and childhood....I hope to be one the the people to steer these kids from the thoughts of war, death, tankers and bombs....

however, this will be my first time volunteering overseas, and I ain't too sure if I should bring my laptop along with me(for communication purposes).I wouldn't want to bring my mobile phone,as I fear the poor reception at Lebanon makes no difference at all......

Hope to hear more from you guys!

Thanks!

I predict that Hizbullah will kidnap more Israeli soldiers in the future or fire rockets at Israel and by that cause them to retaliate again and destroy Beirut again. so why should Beirut be rebuilt in the first place?

I am European, but my chosen homeland is Lebanon.
I dont have the time to explain why, it is just the immense attraction I feel for this country. Once you inhale the air and walk the ground of Lebanon, you are addicted to it. The Lebanese know what I am talking about, so do most ppl who have ever been there. It is magical. Everything about Lebanon is.
I dont care if there is war going on. In fact I was thinking of joining a group of volunteers of some kind or a humanitarian organisation to enter.
I am just gathering information how to get to Beirut, the airport is demolished, roads are ruined... I only know I want to be there, do something to help, to contribute.
I was thinking there might be humanitarian coridors open any time. Where can I get information on that?
And, please... I am asking you nicely to spare me with mocking kind of answers. I need to save energy for something far more important.
With love,

Romana

What would America do if Terrorists were to fire 1600 rockets from U.K onto Washington or New York or to Los Angeles and the British government did nothing to stop these terrorists?. What if these terrorists were based in London?..........Once you have answered this question change America to Israel and U.K as the Lebanon............Think, dont listen to what you see on television. Back your President, be patriotic.

Omar Bakri the extremist Islamic Preacher who blamed Britain for the 7 july bombings. He spent 20 years in Britain stirring up hatred until finally exiled from the U.K.
Now this man and his family are begging the British Government to get him out of Beirut cause he is yellow and he says his life is in danger.
I say **** him and his family, what do you think?

I'm sorry for all the people there and what's happening. Really.

But, what about being a bit cautious about picking destination spots that are on the State Department's lists of places to avoid?

This is a genuine question. Please no racism, histrionics or "comedy". I'd just like to know what it's like from people who've visited or lived there, or who live there now.
