No-one else is defending them from Israel so I am guessing they would.

I think most of them did. Before the ceasefire few days back it was in the news that Christians had a crusade joined with Muslims. The Hezbollah which is from a certain Shia muslim group mainly aimed to protect their government against the hostility of Israel. In this war, Lebanon is attacked due to some political and territory dispute, and is not indicated as just as religious conflicts. As you see Muslims and Christians alike are the victims of such war. Hezbollah as defendant of their country is defending the country as a whole so there must be no question that Christians will definitely support Hezbollah. As you see, in every issue there are always differences of opinion and principles so to speak ,that for sure Hezbollah got Christian support but expect the existence of criticism as well.

G'day Jimyleb86,

Thanks for your question.

Hezbollah is a Shia Islamist organization in Lebanon comprising a militia, a political party, and an extensive program of social development.Formed in 1982 to fight the incipient occupation by Israel,] it was officially founded on February 16, 1985 when Sheik Ibrahim al-Amin declared the group's manifesto. it originally sought also to bring Islamic Revolution to Lebanon;the party also dreamt of transforming Lebanon's multi-confessional state into an Iranian-style Islamic state. According to a BBC analysis, "This idea was eventually abandoned and the party today is a well-structured political organisation with members of parliament". Calls continue for the elimination of “the Zionist entity” (i.e. The State of Israel), a founding objective of the organization. The current Secretary-General of Hezbollah is Sheikh Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah, who has held the office since 1992.

During the Lebanese Civil War, they were actively opposed by Lebanese Christians. More recently, they have accused the organisation of destabilising the country. However, attitudes seem to have changed. According to a poll released by the "Beirut Center for Research and Information" on 26 July during 2006 Israel-Lebanon conflict, 87 percent of Lebanese support Hezbollah's fight with Israel, a rise of 29 percent on a similar poll conducted in February. More striking, however, is the level of support for Hezbollah's resistance from non-Shiite communities. Eighty percent of Christians polled supported Hezbollah along with 80 percent of Druze and 89 percent of Sunnis, while according to another poll, from July 2005, 74 percent of Christian Lebanese viewed Hezbollah as a resistance organization.

However, the New York Times reported that Christians fleeing southern Lebanon were critical of Hezbollah tactics.

I enclose sources for your reference.

Regards

hosbolla shouldnt be called muslims, its a shame that they use God's call.. they are no longer something yet terrorists...its greater clever to have an american subsidized goverment than a syrian and iran subsidized goverment... hosballa began the conflict without thinking of the outcomes and without thinking approximately how the lebanese human beings gets affected he did no longer something yet threaten, if it wasnt for different countries interfearance to end the conflict, right this moment there may be no lebanon..and he nevertheless had the balls to declare that he gained the conflict.. i desire the goverment doesnt fall i dont choose yucky sirians and iranians ruling lebanon.. via the way the human beings demonstrating right this moment in lebanon 3/4 are syrians the other1/4 are hosballa and 0.5 of that a million/4 went via fact they have been paid via hosballa.. christians and muslim sunni are at the back of the goverment a hundred% and muslim shiitis are the single that characterize hosballa and choose the goverment to fall, they r doing all this fuzz coz the trial for mr.hariri is quickly and that they r responsible so they r attempting to circumvent it.. would god help lebanon triumph over this disaster... hosballa syria and iran would desire to enable lebanon stay in peace..

The way Israel went about this war, killing innocent civilians! the people of lebanon whether christian or muslim probably support Hizbullah. I don't agree with violence, islam is a peaceful religion, but radicals and extremists emphasize too much on jihad. They were both wrong...
