This is a genuine question. Please no racism, histrionics or "comedy". I'd just like to know what it's like from people who've visited or lived there, or who live there now.

I am from Jordan and my ex gf was Lebanese, so I got to go there often.

Before meeting my ex I used to hate Lebanese people because the ones I met in America were arrogant.

When I went to Lebanon I found Lebanese to be really nice and I totally changed my previous impression.

As for Lebanon itself, it is of the best places in the middle east despite it's internal ethnic and religious division.

It is one of the very few places in the middle east where there as actually a real night life that a westerners can enjoy(concerts and events)

The food in Lebanon is excellent(both Arabic and western food)

There are tons of historical and natural places to see.

There are tons of cafes and restaurants to go to.

There tons of book stores where you can find English and french books

There are many movies theaters

It is a good place to shop when they have sales.

Lebanon was one of the greatest vacation spots in the world before all this mid-east aggression started. I had many American friends working in Saudi Arabia in the 60's and 70's who all raved about Lebanon and Beirut, the great hotels, beaches, clubs and restaurants.
What a shame that such a beautiful country has had to go through so much grief and destruction.
Isn't religion a wonderful thing.

It's not very pleasant for people who live there now. I was watching the devastation caused by the bombs on the evening news. Very sad.

It is a lovely place, with great people who have been oppressed in many ways by Israel (unknowingly for decades).
