I just wanted to know if stretching a lot takes away strength. I know it makes you less likely to feel rock hard, but what about your overall strength

I just read an interesting book called The Champion Maker. It analyses the question of what is fair in athletic competition from a completely different angle. Say a person was bestowed, at the time of conception, with genetic advantages that happened to make him a superior athlete. Is he any more of a "cheater" than someone born with superior genes?

It was the tale with the moral of 'Nobody gets left behind'. I think it was a sprinting competition, and one of the racers fell and burst into tears. The other sprinters felt sorry and all turned around to help the fallen up and cross the finish line together. Was it based on a true story, and where and when did it occur?

I have to write a process essay depicting the steps involved in preparing to participate in a sporting event. I chose a swim event that is swam by an Olympic swimmer. If anyone have any information on the training that is involved with this, like dieting, exercises, sleeping habbits, total number of meters swam during practice..exc. Thanks!

I really need to, badly. I have outright speed, 11.5 in the 100 meter, but I can not sustain that for more than 200 meters. My 200 meter in practice is about 26. My 400 meter is 66. Clearly there is a drop off in the last two hundred meters. When I run quarters for training if I try my hardest I can hit 75's consistantly but can not seem to do much better. I've only done this like twice, so I don't know how doing it consistantly will work. If I hit those 75's consistantly will I slowly improve? As in, after a week maybe hit 74's...73's....72's... until I'm running the 60's consistantly? Any other advice would be appreciated.

I am a Cross Country and Track runner, and am interested in improving my mile time. I have very good endurance, but my issue with running the mile is my body gets very tired running at that speed (even though I can hold my breath, lol). I absolutely detest speed training, like running quarters, but our coach had us do fartlek for the first time the other day- I LOVE it. I hate speed, but love fartlek. I could do fartlek all day long. Can I substitute speed for fartlek? When I do fartlek, I usually do it for 3 minute intervals. Three minutes of jogging, three minutes of 125% 1 mile pace, three minutes jogging, etc. Is this a suitable substitute for speed?
