I just wanted to know if stretching a lot takes away strength. I know it makes you less likely to feel rock hard, but what about your overall strength

No, stretching is actually suppoesed to make your muscles stronger (and more fexible) you may feel weak after stretching because a prolonged area that has not been used has been stretched too much. After a while though, your body will adjust. It's like if your back is crooked, you try to straighten it and it hurts. Stretching will make you stronger, flexible and less prone to injury. In the long term, you will also benefit to lifting more weights.
