A foursome of senior golfers hit the course with waning enthusiasm for the sport.

"These hills are getting steeper as the years go by," one complained.

"These fairways seem to be getting longer too," said one of the others.

"The sand traps seem to be bigger than I remember them too," said the third senior.

After hearing enough from his Senior buddies, the oldest, and the

wisest of the four of them at 87 years old, piped up and said...

"Quit your dang complaining and just be thankful we're still on the

TOP SIDE of the grass!"

In 1913 the American and British press usually listed him and Vardon as the two top golfers in the world. He won Inverness in 1920 against a field of 286 -others included a young Bobby Jones, and Vardon; he drove the ball stupendous yardage, one source suggested over 300 average; and was an excellent putter, puting his great touch, honed from hours at the billiard table to great use. For 43 years he was the honored by being the first to win 2 of the "majors" (at Toledo and in the U.K). The usual answer is...Ray didn't win many majors. But his impact on the professional sport was immense. Is this omission an oversight?

Once in a while I can make the ball go left or right, mostly unintentional. But, I have not found a way to get the ball to spin back. I have heard that you almost have to pinch or clip the ball as you come down on it. Any advice?

I am picking up golf and getting the required loft from 9 and 7 iron but am having problem in playing the other irons and woods. The ball either slices off to the right or goes along the ground.

My spouse is GREAT at golf but gets frustrated when we golf together because I take atleast 2x as many shots at him. How do I get better? Would lessons help? I also get pretty tired while golfing, but that's because I'm swinging so much to even get it to the green. I've got good irons (Titlest titanium) but I'm not sure how to get better. (Of course I'd love to beat my husband one day....) Any suggestions??

It is a given that Tiger will eventually get past the 18 Majors, that Jack won. But Nicklaus had to deal some the game's best players in Palmer, Player, Seve, Watson, Jacklin, Trevino et al. Does Tiger have or will have that same aura?

Why are the majors wins of Nicklaus and Woods more important than Sneads more than 70 great tournament wins? When did, for example, the British or French open begin?
