My spouse is GREAT at golf but gets frustrated when we golf together because I take atleast 2x as many shots at him. How do I get better? Would lessons help? I also get pretty tired while golfing, but that's because I'm swinging so much to even get it to the green. I've got good irons (Titlest titanium) but I'm not sure how to get better. (Of course I'd love to beat my husband one day....) Any suggestions??

If you have the money for good clubs, you have money for lessons. I would recommend taking lessons from two or three different individuals, as each of them has different advice, and styles. You will get something from each one. I took an adult continuing ed golf class at the local college.

Go to the driving range on your own and hit two or three baskets. Do it daily or almost daily for a couple of weeks.

Get the garden hose and make a big circle in the back yard. Practice chipping into it. Go to the putt-putt or the practice green and do that and do it a lot.

Relax when you play, keep your shoulders down. Remember not only to look at the ball, but concentrate on it, try and imagine the other side of the ball, than the one that you see. Do not remove your eyes from the ball until after it is hit.

Finally, don't be so competitive. Enjoy it when you make a good shot, regardless of how others are playing. It is, after all, only a game, except for a very few champions.

He is a better golfer than you? Interesting...You should actually be better than him when it comes to form, the reason I say this is because woman tend to have better control of their hips and shoulder placement due to bone structure. You do not have to be strong to play golf, because as you know it's all about form. If you take your time, concentrate and just be one with the ball you won't be doing all that excess swinging and therefore you will not get as tired quickly. Keep your elbows in and slightly open your stance, also aline your left back heel so that there's a direct line from it to the ball with your left foot slight turned outward (only slightly though). This won't allow you a gigantic swing, but it will keep your form more strict and if you connect with the ball properly, you will not need that large swing and you might even be surprised your driving as well as distance will improve. Don't tell your husband I told you this, just apply it next time your out on the course...you'll be surprised of the outcome...and so will he.

my brother golfs and he goes in the back yard and golfs everyday for about 1-2 hours. he does drills like setting up a green and goes to the driving range every week. also if you have time off, you can go golf 18 holes. you could also try golf lessons at your local golf course. if you're a busy mom and wife you might not have time for this, but on the weekend or something try to go outside and practice and if you can, go to the driving range, golf 9-18 holes, or get some friends that like golf and practice with them.

hope i helped you and i hope my suggestions will help you beat your husband one day! :)

Look for lesson opportunities at the local golf course and take some lessons from one of the pros. Make sure you find a pro that your confident in, otherwise you might find yourself doubting his advice which will put you back where you started except with 40 bucks less. During your lessson concentrate on one aspect of your game that you feel you need the most help in. Then remember what you learned and apply it to your next round of golf.

Find a group of regulars who play at your level, Then practice, practice, practice. Playing with similarly skilled players helps you grow as a player and takes the stress of performing off of you. Pretty soon, you'll see common problems you and others have, and learn how to fix them. Your score will drop, and Viola! you'll hate golf as much as I do.
