If you hit a ball and it didn't go into hazard or out of bounds and you can't find the ball you are to go back and hit from the original spot one stroke penalty. If you hit from where you lost the ball it is a two stroke penalty

There is a stroke penalty and you are charged the distance. Place your ball back at the original spot and then rehit. If you lost your tee-shot you would re-tee and be hitting for a 3.
