Football (American) - October 2006

Just say theres a good starting quarterback for a football team and he's having a pretty good season but he gets hurt for a few weeks and his backup who is just about as good has some good games filling in for the starter, who should start when the starter gets back from his injury, him or that backup that did pretty good?

Where did the term originate? I mean pretty much all of the other positions are called things that have to do with where they normally are positioned on the field, or what they do. But a quarterback doesn't appear to be that way. Running backs run, linemen are in the line, tight ends are on the ends, defensive tackles tackle. So, where did the name 'quarterback' come from?

Is anybody else worried that the Bears will go undefeated this season because of the weakness of their schedule? I think they are a great football team, but probably not in the top 25 of all time. I think it would be a shame for football if they were to go undefeated simply because of the lack of talent in the NFC.

Does anybody else find it annoying when Chris Berman & co. are doing their analysis of the game, that the crowd noise is so loud, they basically have to yell into their microphones. It's just stupid and distracting if you ask me.
