It depends on overall performance. If they're on the same level, the starter should come back because he will have had more experience in games and with the offense. If the replacement exceeds the starter, he will sometimes keep the job. That's how Tom Brady and Ben Roethlisberger got started.

If the starting QB was doing well up untill the point he got hurt then he shouldnt lose his job unless the backup came in and played better. But at the same time you have to keep the starter on a short leash because if hes not getting the job done when he came back then you have to go back to the hot hand and then let them battle for the position the next season.

A great exapmle of this question would be the situation in Kansas City with the Chiefs. Trent Green got injured and since then, his backup, Damon Huard, has the second highest passer rating in the NFL. However, Huard is about the same age as Green, therefore, Green will come back and start, until he is proven unworthy.

You be loyal and stick to your starter at the beginning of the season to see if he is ready after his comeback, and if he doesnt do as well as the backup then start the backup.

first of all this looks liek it mirrors the steelers with big ben...but the answer is u have to wean back ur starter bc he is obviously better when at 100% if he was ur starter....u must have him fully recover tho...maybe stick with the backup if ur in a situation like the jags last year....they threw leftwich in the fire for the playoffs after garrarg was solid for a while....they didnt wean him back tho, so if its playoff time stick with what works...if u can afford to wean him back do it

First of all its well(referring to the end sentence) Also I think you bring back the starter if they are of equal talent go with the guy you have had before the injury.

There is supposed to be an old adage that says a starter can't lose his position due to injuries.

I would start the younger one of the two, so you could have a good franchise QB.

If your winning you stick with the back-up. Don't mess with a good thing.
