Shouldn't everyone hit at least 65-70% of their FT's?

When Bob Knight wins his next game, it will be the crowning achievement on a 41-year career filled with them: five Final Four appearances, three national titles, an Olympic gold medal as the coach of the 1984 United States team and a spot in the Basketball Hall of Fame in 1991.

However, some worry that Knight’s coaching accomplishments have been overshadowed by his often profane and highly publicized tantrums, which include throwing a chair onto the court during a game against Purdue, a run in with a police officer in Puerto Rico, and especially his dismissal from Indiana in 2000 after 29 seasons in the wake of a confrontation with a student.

Will he be remembered more as a great basketball coach or a controversial/volatile coach?

My son is a HS Jr and plays basketball for his school. His coach seems to be way out of touch! I'd like to talk to the coach about my son and how he plays him - but everyone I know says that is not the thing to do - apparently I'd be risking having my son benched for the season! Is this true? What do you do as a parent to look out for your son? He's 6-9 and is a terrific player -should have a future in college basketball...

I have been having problems with driving the lane. I have the ability to do it and I can in practice but in games I just can't seem to do it. Does anyone know how to overcome driving the lane?

I am curious. There is a big deal being made about Bobby Knight passing Dean Smith for the leader in all time wins in Division IA college basketball. An impressive accomplishment to say the very least. But, when I look at the two, I have to ask, is he actually a better coach? Knight has one more national championship and is about to pass him in wins, but had to coach for almost six extra seasons to do it. When I compare the two, Dean Smith was always able to get better players who in turn enjoyed successful careers at the highest level and Smith acheived a majority of those wins in the ACC which is historically the toughest basketball conference in the country. Look at their players. Knight can offer up Isiah Thomas opposed to Dean Smith's Michael Jordan, James Worthy, Brad Dougherty, Sam Perkins and the list goes on.....what do you guys think? Who is better and why?

I meant if like you passed to someone and he dribbled a while before scoring does it count?

Or if you passed to another guy right under the basket and theres another guy trying to block him although he scores does it count?

Generally there should be a rule and i want to hear it...

Okay, I'm a good basketball player, and I shoot really well, am a good defender, and doing everything really good. But in games I get extremely nervous, freeze up, and am too afraid to shoot. tonight I was 5 for 6...I mean if I shot more, think of all the points I'd be wracking up.

Anyone have advice on how to help me solve my problem? I have a tournament; we won our first game of this tournament today and the championship game is tomorrow. Help is definitely needed.=]

Thanks in advance.♥

Example: Like 10,11,12,13,etc. feet away from a basketball rim.

I'm 12 years old, 5 ft 3 in, 106 pounds, not to muscular( just perfect for my age), and very muscular calves and thighs.

So how far can I shoot a basketball? Give me a range.

I've tryed many times from 21 feet away but, sometimes I make the shot and sometimes I miss it.

If you look at the games over the past few nights several games have been decided by bad calls or non calls by offcials in the closing minutes of games. And let's not forget the grapple in the apple and the brawl at the palace were results of players feeling that refs had let the game get out of hand.

I'm thinking of getting a new pair of basketball shoes.
I want a pair that could improve my game and I'm playing at guard or small forward.

Do you have any suggestions of shoes that might be good?
