I am a freshman. I am 5'9" 235 lbs. (i play line in football) and basketball tryouts are coming up. I am torn between whether or not i want to try out. I don't have a great shot, but can get the ball in the basket, lack hops, but can box out well, and, since i played football, am in relatively good shape for someone my weight and height. I also have solid lower body strength but lack upper body strength. Based on this, do you think I should tryout or no? Our freshmen team (at least those who attended conditioning. I couldnt because i had football.) is relatively short so that means id be at like F/C or sumthing.

I'm 5'9', know most the plays, and make most shots I shoot, but I still dont get to start! The person that jumps is shorter than me, doesnt know some of the plays, and, lol, is WAY to nice, I mean, being nice is a good thing, but she just gets pushed around! Is it fair???

If you train jumping exercises every day, squats and that and if your fit and light like I am, would it would possible to do a dunk if your 5'7 if you keep on doing power/strength traning and practising jumping? Is there any scientific research to show/prove that this is possible?

It seemed like the sonics were very interested and I have heard nothing since, especially with the loss of Swift and the recent waived players there must be room for him.
