Actually, you should find someone who knows what they're doing to show you how to do it correctly before doing it repeatedly. Because if you have bad form, you could re-enforce that bad form by doing it repeatedly. Of course, once you know the right way to shoot, repetition builds muscle memory and will make you a better shooter.

Larry Bird used to show up to games 3 hours early and first he'd stand right under the rim and shoot about 50 shots from there. Then he'd take a step back and shoot 50 from there....and so on until he was dropping them from 3-point range. He did this before EVERY game. That's the kind of dedication you need to be a great shooter.

I would keep shooting for 30 mionutes at least once a day. You should practice aiming the ball, trying it at different angles, and running and then shooting it. I did this and I was getting really good.

I would say work on the mechanics of the jump shot, but not all good shooters in the NBA have picture perfect form. The key is to shoot over and over and over. Repitition is the key to success. Perfect your style by shooting everyday.

it sounds really dumb but it killed on the court for me. you know those little stupid minurature hoops for bed rooms or w/e. Get one of those and set it up kind of far from where you will be shooting then just practice, and do it serious with 2 hands...its hard but you get better, then when i went on the court i shot like i never had before...it really works just practice over the winter. try to get it up high so you just cant flip it in. and dont get the biggest one...the smaller the harder, the better you;ll get

You should go to the free throw or three point line and start shooting form there. When you shoot you need to let your wrist point to the basket and remember practice makes perfect.

Work with a coach. Someone to watch what you are doing and tell you what you are doing wrong (and right!). Behind every great athlete is a good coach or coachs.
