If you train jumping exercises every day, squats and that and if your fit and light like I am, would it would possible to do a dunk if your 5'7 if you keep on doing power/strength traning and practising jumping? Is there any scientific research to show/prove that this is possible?

It's definitely not impossible but it's definitely an improbability.

There have been people who are 5'7" and can dunk - such as Spud Webb - but you have to accept that he's an exception rather than the norm.

At that height, you're likely to need about a 40 inch vertical leap to pull it off. If you follow the link in my source, you'll see a study which shows the average vertical leap is about 22 inches for males and 14 inches for females. So you'd have to excced the normal person by quite a bit to pull it off.

Training can help, but at 5'7" it's probably going to take an exceptional amount of natural athleticism to pull off a dunk. If you're a naturally gifted jumper, training will help you get those last few inches to dunk but if you're more than a foot away from grabbing the rim, even training probably won't help you achieve a dunk.

You can if you give it your all and train hard, but remember not to hope for it only in a few day's it'll take weeks even months and don't over do it or it'll set you back awhile.

I have two friends who can dunk and they are also 5'7, they play basketball and out do me every time. I also am training to try and dunk at 5'7. let me know how it turns when you can dunk so I can get some inspiration and yeah and my workout regime is terrible (need help).

Take a look at Spudd Webb. He was listed as 5'7 and he was a slam dunk champion. Also Tyrone "Mugsy' Bogues was listed as 5'1 and he coul easily grab the 10 foot rim. His only problem was palming the ball. He could palm a volleyball and could dunk it. All you need is practice and determination and you will be able to do it. I am 5'9 and easily grab the rim and can dunk on alley-oops. I to have a problem palming the ball. If it is a well worn basketball it is easier to palm. keep it up and you will be doing windmill dunks soon.

It is definaltey possible to dunk at 5'7. I mean Nate Robinson is about 5'8 and he dunked. Spud Webb was 5'7 and he won the Slam Dunk contest as well as Nate Robinson.

I will be tough, but not impossible. You might have to become a real gym rat. If you can't do it, improve other areas of your game....like setting up the tall guys so they can get the dunks!

Possible but improbable, its hard and you need to practice every day, it would help if you had a coach. and nate robinson was 5'9" but he has a40 something vertical
