how many inches above the rim do you need to get to dunk, and is it easier converting an alley oop dunk or dunking by yourself

You need to be able to get your hand at least 5 inches over the rim to dunk it.

An alleyoop might be easier if you can't palm the ball because you just have to worry about jumping up and grabbing the ball out of the air, not necessarily worrying about palming it. Then again, if you can palm it, it might be easier just to do that.

Depends on the way you dunk. If you'll do a one passed dunk, i might say that your rist must be over the rim, approximately abt four inches above. Now in the event you wish to dunk like BeBron, you been a few huge air, he is going up a complete different 7 or extra inches above the rim. But a sensible dunk, you must get your hand a well, first-class, first rate approximately abt four-6 inches above the rim.

You need at least 6 inches above the rim to just put the ball on your fingertips and tip it in and that will look sort of like a dunk. But if you want to do a dunk that looks like you're actually slamming it, for me, i need my whole hand plus 3 inches down my wrist above the rim so that's pretty much 10.5-11 inches above the rim for me. It depends how big the ball is and how big your hand is. I think it's easier to dunk yourself, because in an alleyoop, catching the ball in midair will take off a couple inches off your jump. Dunking isn't as easy as it looks, but it's really fun to do.
