I keep hearing from people, and, subsequently keep telling people, that Alex Rodriguez's contract states that if any other player in MLB negotiates a higher salary than what he is getting he gets to re-negotiate his own salary. Is this true?

Which MLB pitcher had the best season ever - a season when he dominated hitters and was virtually untouchable. I know of some current pitchers who had great seasons (like Greg Maddux in 1995, or Pedro Martinez in 1999), but I am wondering who may have had the all-time best season (wins, era, strikouts, cg, whip, etc). Ok, let the opinions begin!!

I think the gold glove award is rediculous. I love the thought of it. Giving the best player at each position recognition for their defensive plays and talents to that side of the ball is a great honor. However, the MLB gets lazy and fails to look at who the best players are. They choose the same player every year, despite if he was or was not the best player that year. I am a Minnesota fan, and even I didnt think Torii Hunter deserved the Gold Glove two years ago, when he only played a half a season. There is a story like this every year. Anyone else?

Brewers have the best record in baseball, and all you hear on Baseball Tonight is Yankees this, Boston that, Mets did such and such. And even the Cardinals' having to deal with the "tragic" loss of Josh Hancock story is getting old especially given the facts that are surfacing. I'm sorry he died and sorry for his family, but when you drive drunk and die that's not a tragedy. That's stupid, and at least he didn't hurt anyone else, which would have been tragic.

So is the amazing start to the year Bonds is having enough to quiet people who can only focus on the couple of years he may have used ?

IMO there's just no denying that he's one of the best players in history and nothing can diminish that. Ty Cobb was a bit of an a@@ too.

Over their last 7 game homestand, they averaged only about 18,000 fans per game. That is real low for a team playing that good. Why are the fans in Cleveland not coming out to support their team?

Is it a vote? If so by who? Or is it the player who makes the least amount of errors at their position? I've always wondered this, and thought maybe someone here would know. Thanx.

I am a die hard Mets fan. Have been a Mets fan for probably 25 years now. I do not want Roger Clemens on my team. I have no more respect for him. He sits back on his big ranch chilling waiting around to see which team is going to be in contention late in the season and this is the team he will decide to join. How can anyone respect him for that?
I know that he is Roger Clemens and he has earned certain rights but what gives. I want someone on my team that is going to be their from Training Camp until October. Why should you allow some plug in guy join your team during your big run to get a world series ring when he really hasn't earned it?
Does anyone agree with me??

The National League was formed in 1876 and the American League in 1901 but I was wondering if stats from the previous professional leagues that eventually became the NL and AL(NABBP and the Western League) are included in the MLB all time career leaders lists?
