For now he is. Octavio Dotel was signed to be the Royals Closer, but has been on the DL since the start of the season. He is starting to throw now and it appears if all goes well he could be back with the team in a few weeks.
However the way Soria is playing it's not a for sure deal that Dotel will come in and grab the closer spot right away.

Soria now has three more saves than Mariano Rivera, making him the best closer currently closing for the Kansas City Royals. Soria has been the best closer option in place of the injured Octavio Dotel (oblique), but is still just a stopgap option until Dotel returns.
right now soria is doing very well with his last save yesterday he and david riske are the only other solid closers for the royals.

Yes, he's currently the closer for the Royals until Octavio Dotel comes back.
Octavio threw 25 pitches off the mound yesterday and is expected to return sometime in the middle of May.

Soria has taken over the closer's role from David Riske, at least until Octavio Dotel is healthy.

Yes he is, until Dotel comes back, and thank God they aren't using Riske anymore. Riske is a bum.
