I am a Christian and my Husband has just converted to Muslim, however I am trying to get a better understanding of all religions. So I wanted to know what the Latter Day churches believed in, what are their services like? What is the difference between them and Christians or Muslims? I prefer not to be insulted, so please dont respond if you are only going to negative.

Let's face it, we usually end up focusing on a particular topic here and it kind of becomes the theme of the day...

like:
evolution vs. creationism?
christianity vs. _____ religion?
does eggplant prove that god is purple?
fallibility or infallibility of the bible of the bible?
how does the first amendment effect religion?
does this bible make my butt look big?
pro-life or prochoice?

What's a good running topic for today?
Can we get something that we haven't beaten to death recently?

Just can't believe it! Religious people from a Catholic church in modern Singapore engaging in a ritual that originated in AD200 ... devils, demons, etc.

I don't see any difference between this so-called exorcism (that attempts to "cure" a sick person by getting rid of the "devil" in her body) to the many other forms of supersttious rituals practise by various other cults or beliefs viz black magic, voodooism, etc.

You have this person (Mdm Valli) who obviously needed medical attention by a qualified medical practitioner. Instead she was (according to the report in Straits Times, 31 Aug2006) subjected to more than two hours of exorcism whereby she was pinned down, throttled and verbally abused" ! Unbelievable! How very sad.. because, according to her husband, she became "a hysterical person who breaks down often". Her doctor says Mdm Valli's symptoms "are a direct result of the traumatic incident that she experienced at the church" !

Does it matter if it is Christians or Muslims or Budists?
Who is the worst? Someone who knows Christ and doesn't do it?
Or someone who never knew him at all?

what do you think of those christians that do? In relation to what you think is happening to those that do speak in 'tongues' in their minds and/or spirits.

2006-08-31 03:37:03 · 11 answers · asked by CJunk 4

Essentially I want to know what goes on when a person speaks in tongues. Do you speak in faith and believe they are tongues? Do you essentially just say anything and have faith that it is tongues? Is there actually words to speak loudly impressed on your mind?
I am aware there are christians that say it comes by the Holy Spirit, I just want to know what happens when it comes. What are you thinking at the time somewhat
Any other way?

thankyou

What I mean is, do you think our souls were almost pre-programmed before we were even born to predict our fate/our destiny? Sometimes I think yes...but then I see people struggling with cancer and I wonder how your soul could've ever chosen such a fate? Sincere answers, deep answers appreciated.

you belong to. Or is it better to not go since they are so far off base. Serve God in your own way? Or is it enough just to believe?

(yes I know it's a sweeping generalisation and I don't care). I mean they are all fine with science when it's developing new drugs to cure illnesses, new materials which make things safer or more efficient, faster more efficient ways of getting around ect. How come then science becomes the evil of the world and devil's main tool for killing us all when it tries to save lives through organ cloning, save the lives of starving African children with genetic modified crops, tries to work out how the universe really works and where it really came form, try to work out the processes by which life develops on Earth, tries to find a precise age for the Earth, ect. So decide is science a good thing or a bad thing. (Being an atheist I think science is an incredibly good thing and something that should be encouraged at all times as it can only benefit everyone).

It is challenging raising children in a society that is so untoward. You tell your children to go right someone else takes upon themselves to tell them to go left. You tell your children to keep themselves from fornication, someone else says practice safe sex. You tell your children to tell the truth, and someone else tell them to lie for them. I would love to hear from other Goldly parents that are facing challenges against socities backwards custom.

Someone told me that man created God to explain love,
and how we got here.
Then he created Satan to explain hate.
Do we have proof that God exists?
How do you know that Christians are the truth?
I hate having to use perfect english!!!!@@@####

Religion is personal. No one needs to share their religion unless asked to by someone willing to learn. If your religion is only uplifted by bashing another, don't share it. No one is better than the other.

sure practice your religion as you wish, but not everyone wants to hear it....believe it or not, I'm a witness. But I don't think God wants people to be forced to love him. Or annoyed by his message.

I'm so tired of all these self righteous, better-than-thee religious questions.

Keep it to yourself, agree??

because sufi's dont believe in the cult of mohomed, and they are more like the tibetan buddhists who practice only a form of meditation mixed with dancing. and it very easily blends in with other religions.
have you heard of them?

Words of Darwin

“I have asked myself whether I may not have devoted my life to a fantasy...I...am ready to cry with vexation at my blindness and presumption."

Darwin admitted, "If it could be demonstrated that any complex organism existed which could not possibly have been formed by numerous, successive, slight modifications, my theory would absolutely break down."

sometimes ...rather most of the time i have seen this happen in my life , if i dream of something (not related to my current thoughts) and i see an incident happeneing i find out the next day or even a few days later the incident materialisng into reality, also sometimes out of the blue if i make certain comments about others the prediction comes true , moreover if i think of some events in my near future and expect it to happen in a particular way , it does happen the way i want...strange it may sound but my premonitions are quite strong so i try not to go agaist my instinct as otherwise a heavy awaits me.......si it starnge or does it happen with most of us what do we call this kind of happenings? i hope to get some genuine response...thanx in advance.
