What I mean is, do you think our souls were almost pre-programmed before we were even born to predict our fate/our destiny? Sometimes I think yes...but then I see people struggling with cancer and I wonder how your soul could've ever chosen such a fate? Sincere answers, deep answers appreciated.

I believe in reincarnation, somewhat. I have two theorys, and this is one of them.

There are two worldly planes, this one and another. When a creature dies here (creature, not human) you go on a waiting list, and are "born" into the other world and live a full life there.

When you die in that world, you go back on the waiting list and are "born" back into this world.

since history repeats itself (and so do the living organisms on this planet) You have the capacity to remember some things from past lives, like deja vu, love at first sight, knowing things are wrong before you get on the bus, etc.

thus your soul is predestined in this life because you have already lived before, but not so predestined that you dont have a choice in how you live.

No I don't.
That's like the belief that evil people don't know they're evil. That's just nonsense.
There are those with diminished mental capacity who can't seem to get a grasp on their soul, but for the most part we are taught how it works.
We are taught to love, and to hate as well unfortunately.
When a really good person leaves a room, or dies, we feel inside as though we lost something.
When an evil person does the same we feel relief.
Even Hitler was taught to hate. and if he really felt what he was doing wasn't evil, he would have stayed around to explain why what he did was right instead of committing suicide.
We've all know really nice people who suffer a great loss and seem to change from kind loving people to hateful and bitter ones. Some even make the transition back again.
The soul is our only tool for reaching out to others. We have to be taught ho to do this in a helpful fashion as well.

Many of these answers are getting their vocabulary confused. There is a difference between destiny, predestination, and foreknowledge. I do not believe that people know when you are going to die beforehand. Or that you can make any choices before you are born (like choosing or knowing that you will have cancer), or that there is such a thing as reincarnation.
I do believe in Predestination meaning that God chose who would be saved before creation. He did not choose those people based on how He thought they might respond to Him.

Romans 8:29-30 For those God foreknew He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brothers and sisters. And those He predestined, He also called; those He called, He also justified; those He justified, He also glorified.

Ephesians 1:11 In him we were also chosen, having been predestined according to the plan of Him who works out everything in conformity with the purpose of His will.

I am a firm believer in predetermined lives, events, etc. I feel our MAKER has plans for all of us. We might not like or accept what we are dealt, but nonetheless things happen for a reason. My father died at an early age because I feel it was time for him to go home. My wife and I met under extraordinary circumstances: we met at work(Weis Markets). I has asked her out and she said to do what? On our first date, she did most of the talking(she still does!) but she told me something very interesting. Her boyfriend before me told her he was gay. She was very upset by the news. My girlfriend before my wife told me she was gay and wanted to be with other women! That really devastated me. I started to develop a drinking problem, which has long been conquered. So when we found out what happened to each other, that made us realize we were meant for each other. And of course along the way we fell in love, had a child, got married, had two more kids and are very happy together forever! Here's to Destiny!!!!!!!!!

According to scripture... YES.. but at the same time I find it hard to see how.... In real life, one does not know how or what kind of environment a person will be brought up in and this would or should determine the destiny of souls..

Sometimes I think yes as well. A good example is finding my boyfriend of 5 years. It seems like we were meant to be.

But at the same time, I don't like the idea of not being in control of my own life.

i believe that i chose to live with my family before i was born and that i was chosen to live in this day and age, the last days before the second coming.
we knew what we would have to deal with when we were in heaven and we accepted it as part of heavenly father's plan of salvation. for those who were born witha handicap or disability, which ever you prefer, knew that they would have it. babies that only live a few days or weeks knew that they would only have a short time here. same with the children that starve to death in the thrid world countries, and those with cancer too.

Cancer has nothing to do with your soul, if that even exists. I don't think anything is predetermined, unless you parents CHOSE your sex using science. Everything comes as it does, no questions asked.

Man was given free will, being created “in God’s image.” (Genesis 1:27) Free will was indispensable if humans were to honor and serve God out of love, not as robots with every movement determined beforehand. Love displayed by intelligent, free creatures would enable God to refute unjust accusations. He says: “Be wise, my son, and make my heart rejoice, that I may make a reply to him that is taunting me.”—Proverbs 27:11.

If God’s servants were predestined—or programmed, so to speak—could not the genuineness of their love for their Creator be called into question? Also, would it not be contrary to God’s impartiality for him to make a predetermined choice of persons destined to glory and happiness without taking their individual merits into account?

Finally, Christ told his disciples to preach the good news to all mankind. If God has already chosen the ones to be saved, would this not dampen the zeal Christians show in evangelizing? Would it not make the preaching work essentially pointless?

Impartial love from God is the strongest force that can move men to love him in return. The greatest expression of God’s love was to sacrifice his Son in behalf of imperfect, sinful mankind. God’s foreknowledge respecting his Son is a special case, but it assures us that the restoration promises resting on Jesus will indeed be fulfilled. So may we put faith in that Son and draw close to God. Let us show our appreciation by accepting God’s invitation to come into a fine relationship with our Creator. Today, God addresses this invitation to all who want to exercise their free will and show their love for him.
