Hi :)
I am mexican, I just moved to the US recently out of economic necessity, but I am getting increasingly depressed because this country or at least Houston is such a sad unloving environment, I was wondering how do you manage to survive in such a materialistic and shallow society. Is it possible to ever have a trully fullfilling life here? I can't stand the food, the music, the TV, religious beliefs, school system it all seems shallow, depressing, unloving, phony, arrogant, violent, uninteresting and so on.
Any ideas on how to integrate into the society without loosing your moral values?

I believe that she should serve out her sentence in prison but jail is a terrifying experience. No matter how spoiled she is, no matter how arrogant, I feel how much she is hurting and I don't want anyone to have to suffer. I only hope she is humbled by this experience and comes out on the other side a better person.

I increasingly find American parents paying bills for their grown up (age over 25 and older) for stuff like cell phone, groceries.

I am not saying all but even the Wall Street Journal ran a story on this childish dependence of adult men and women on their parents.

In contrast, my foreign friends who are immigrants are fiercely independent and self-sufficient.

Why is this becoming a trend in American society? Is it because of baby-boomer parents?

I would definitely say that without a doubt that North Korea is the worst country in the world to live in. The people there are starving and have no freedom and no rights, theres no internet because it's banned it's a prison state and if you leave the country without permission you will be shot, political prisoners are put in concentration camps and many of the prisoners are used for experiments by having poisonous gasses which are used for chemical weapons tested on them, women inside the concetration camps are also raped and many of the women get pregnant and their babies are either aborted or killed infront of them after they are born.
It's the most socially islolated country in the world and people are not allowed to know or hear about anything that happens in other countries, the poor people are forced to worship their tyrant leader Kim Jong Ill as a God and everyone of them has to wear a badge with his face on it and they all have to have posters of him hang up in their houses.

why do we need to make more mountains out of mole hills? Why do we even think that a car is going to save the world from destruction each time we get into one? why are we so lazy and do not consider our physical health at all times? Why can't we just live one the beach or by the water somewhere and be happy with that?

I was doing a real estate search and I see tons of people talking about buying a house Panama. I am not planning to go there but I am curious. What is so great about Panama. I hear Costa Rica mentioned a lot, too.

It seems like overpopulation is going to be the most important problem in the future, and most countries are doing nothing about it. What do you think we can really do that would be effective and realistic?
