Mythology & Folklore - August 2007

So, my guy is away in the military. For what seems like an eternity. I'm really feeling the strain on our relationship. I don't get to hear from him often, once every 2 weeks or so if I'm lucky. So, I'm feeling royally tested, but I don't know how he feels. You know, if his feelings are going strong & I'm just whining. So I did a reading.

What He Feels for Me: The World, 6 of Cups, Empress
What He Desires: 9 of Pentacles, Knight of Cups
The Problem: Death, The Lovers
Advice: 10 of Cups

"What He Desires" threw me for a loop. Perhaps he wishes that *I* would write *him* more often? Is the appearance of Death an indicator that his feelings may be waning, an indicator of the negativity that I may be projecting, or is it simply speaking of our forced separation? Would love some help with the whole spread. Thanks in advance.

When choosing a teacher or mentor to help you with your study of the craft, is it better if that person is a man if you are a woman or a woman if you are a man? I ask this because I have read that it is better if a member of the opposite sex is your teacher when learning the craft. Elders what say ye?

I am learning to use a pendulum for divination and such. I purchased a rose quartz one and things were fine until this morning I took it out of it's bag and found that the tip of the crystal had broken off! Is it ruined for pendulum work now? I can't find the tip either. Do I need to get another one?

do you belive in the bloody mary folklore? i kinda belive in myths so i wouldnt try it lol. i also heard if you chant "hell mary" in a dark room infront of the mirror the mirror turns red and after a while a distorted face appers. is all that true? do you know any other scary folklore or website where they have different myths like that?

Astrology and the like is a small interest of mine, and I admit (however wacko) that I do believe some of that star sign stuff does play in everyday life.

But what is the purpose of the Chinese Zodiac? Do the animals represent different traits?

For example I am Aquarius- astrology wise that would give me certain personality traits.
But as far as the Chinese Zodiac goes I'm a horse- is it the same concept with astrology?
