I am learning to use a pendulum for divination and such. I purchased a rose quartz one and things were fine until this morning I took it out of it's bag and found that the tip of the crystal had broken off! Is it ruined for pendulum work now? I can't find the tip either. Do I need to get another one?

I've had pendulums that ranged from a piece of chert to an emerald. I've had both, shaped and polished, and, picked up off the ground stones and crystals. Your talent and your faith in yourself causes the pendulum to work, not its shape.

If it's a very large chip I would look into purchasing another one. It may still work, but in my opinion trying to use it would be like trying to use ripped or creased tarot cards. It's not because it needs to be a certain shape, or anything (it doesn't), I just have a difficult time getting readings from damaged tools. If it was chipped when I found it (and I do have a pendulum that was) then it wouldn't matter. But if it broke I would find another.

I love using a pendulum. It helped me learn how to channel. Any object can be put on a string and used as a pendulum but different stones can be used for different things. I would say yes you can use it , I certainly would after spending that money, a pendent would work just as well. One more tip, get a pendulum board with yes and no and the alphabet, it really helps, i made my own

the shape does not matter. it will still work for you. but it may be trying to tell you something already. try leaving it where it can get some sunlight. and meditate with it to center yourself with it's energies.
you may find that different materials will work differantly for you. for example i have a smoky quartz one. and it works great at hime. but when i travel to North Carolina, it does not work very well. (there is a lot of quartz in the ground in mars hill) but a wooden one works wonderful down there, and at home it hangs pretty much dead in the air.
if you want to get another one, try a different material.

No you do not need another one.a crystal of any shape is OK,. first you must mediate over It.for half an hour.so it will align with your consciousness.and spirit and vibration.You may later find another crystal that aligns better with your spirit.Peace

You don't need anything fancy. Anything with a weight on the end will work as the energies come through you anyway.
